What is a SAP Analytics Cloud template?
A SAC template is a pre-structured data model (dimensions + measures + KPIs) ready to import into SAP Analytics Cloud via Modeler, with a realistic dataset so you can start a Story immediately, with no modeling phase.
What is the difference between SAC Analytics and SAC Planning?
SAC Analytics is for reporting and visualization (read-only). SAC Planning adds user input, versioning (Actual / Budget / Forecast) and Data Actions to drive annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and workforce planning.
How do I import a template into SAP Analytics Cloud?
Download the template's .csv or .xlsx file, then in SAC: Files → New Model → Import data from a file. Map each column to Dimension or Measure, then Save. Expect 5–10 minutes to a working model.
Are the templates free?
Yes — the full catalog (64 templates), the generator and downloads are free, with no sign-up. Paid regulatory accelerators (Solvency II, Basel III, CSRD) are available as a paid option.
Does the generator work without an OpenAI key?
Yes: a local rule-based engine is built in. Without an OpenAI key you get a full model with realistic data, dimensions and 3 dashboard variants. With an OpenAI key in .env, names and labels are enriched.

Over 80 KPIs are profiled with realistic bounds: Revenue, GMV, Conversion rate, Outstandings, Net banking income, Combined ratio, Scope 1/2/3 emissions, OEE, Green capacity and many more. Units (€, %, tCO₂e, d, MW) and aggregations (sum, mean, stock) are applied automatically.
